Environmental commitment

What environmental considerations do you at Nestlé Waters Powwow take in your bottling and distribution of water?

Our bottling and distribution centres incorporate processes to reduce waste and conserve energy. Powwow water is extracted from 2 deep underground sources in the Chilterns and Warwickshire. The water is treated with ozone, a natural steriliser to ensure the highest product quality. All bottles are thoroughly cleaned, sterilised and hygienically sealed before bottling and when empty are collected, thoroughly cleaned again and re-used.

With 10 distribution centres nationwide we minimise the time it takes to deliver water coolers and water to a customer, therefore doing our bit to help the environment.

Does it deplete the water supply to gather water from your water sources?

The great thing here is that is doesn't - it's a renewable resource. It is constantly replenished by rainfall. Before developing a production site we conduct a comprehensive analysis of nearby water supplies and related aquatic systems to determine the spring's recharge rate. After bottling we extensively test the water in our on-site laboratory, and release it to you when we are 100% satisfied. The amount of water that we collect is different for each of our springs. In all cases, we collect only as much as the spring can support.

Are your cups and bottles recycled?

We offer a range of both plastic and paper cups. The two types of plastic cups we provide are a 250ml polypropylene non crackable cup that can be used for hot and cold water and a 220ml PS polystyrene cup. Both plastic cups can be recycled in the UK by Save a Cup. All our polycarbonate 18.5, 17.5 and 13L bottles once empty are collected and re-used. Any damaged bottles returned are crushed on site and sent to an external company to be recycled.

What environmental considerations does Nestlé UK take in the preservation of water?

Water is a natural resource that is indispensable for life. Nestlé recognise that the responsible management of worldwide water resources is an absolute necessity. Preserving both the quantity and the quality of water is not only an environmental challenge, but also one that spans economic, political, social, cultural and emotional considerations.

As a leading food and beverage company, water is a key priority for Nestlé for manufacturing Nestlé's food products, for their preparation by consumers and for bottled waters.

To help assure the long-term, high quality, adequate water supply, Nestlé supports the sustainable use of water, strictly controls it's utilisation in the company's activities and strives for continuous improvement in the management of water resources.

Nesté Waters provides a wide range of pure, safe, wholesome and convenient bottled waters of high quality to meet the increasing and varied needs of consumers throughout the world. Protection of springs and their surroundings is of primary importance in this endeavour.
